Weekly Vocaloid Ranking #220

While having a lot of remnant from last week, this ranking boasts of wonderful new songs specifically from GUMI and from the to-be-released Vocaloid IA -Aria on the Planetes-. There are a couple of songs which are also going to be part of big albums, as well as covers and rearrangements.

The picture cover for this ranking, by the way, is new Vocaloid Tone Rion.

01. Headphone Actor (IA) - Jin
- IA -Aria on the Planetes- is a Vocaloid to be released this January 2012. What is being used here is her demo/beta version available for free. IA (pronounced "ee-yah") is voiced by singer Lia. Jin's melody here is not as strong as the one in Kagerou Days, probably to fit with IA's rather flat and low voice. Despite the rumored "flatness", IA sounds pretty good here, especially since the song's composed of fast lyrics and drastically changing pitches.

04. Cruel Clocks (Hatsune Miku Vivid) - CON
- The first thing I noticed about this song with the wonderful drumming, even against the muffled guitars. Miku sounds amazingly solid even at the high parts.

05. Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu -the movie- (Hatsune Miku) - cosMo/BousouP
- This is an entirely different arrangement of the song for the arcade game Taiko no Tatsujin.

06. Shounen wa Kyoushitsu ga Kirai datta no da (IA) - Ishiburo
- Title means "The Boy Hated the Classroom". Again one of the few uploads experimenting with IA, Ishiburo creates a song with an undeniably similar melody to his older songs, which as a result, make it seem like IA sounds like his GUMI. The difference, however, is that IA sounds a bit thinner and higher than GUMI's usual range.

08. City Boy -cover- (Hatsune Miku) - Mitchie M.
- This is part of the album "Hatsune Miku sings New Wave" and is a cover of a song by 81/2. It's not as catchy as Pewpe...I mean Freely Tomorrow, but you can still hear Mitchie M's impeccable tuning even against such strong beats.

10. Caseaman (GUMI) - vataco/utml
- utml provided the lyrics for this one while vataco provided the melody. It's a fast-paced song reminiscent of YM works but different in the way GUMI is tuned. The echoes are a nice touch and while GUMI can get pretty high in the middle, she doesn't sound shrill.

13. Dust Tail (Hatsune Miku) - KulfiQ
- KulfiQ's new song is an upbeat rock song with impressive guitar work against his Miku's soft vocals. Miku sounds a bit drowned at the chorus but she easily gets out of it during the verses.

- Title means "The Third Winter". LeleleP's update after a long time is an emotional ballad with a simple melody combined with a smoothly-tuned Len.

17. Garando (Hatsune Miku) - yaichi
- I am not sure how the name is read. What a powerful song in both melody and meaning. Miku is rarely tuned strong and solid these days so it's nice to hear her in this song, along with really loud rockish music.

18. Kagerou Days (Hatsune Miku) - Jin
- ↑29 Title means "Sizzling Hot Days".

19. Goumou Heart (Kagamine Rin) - Agoaniki
- ↓08 Title means "Bristle Heart".

20. Asu no Hikari (IA) - Nhato
- The melody is a bit common, especially with the chorus, but IA sounds good especially at the long notes.

21. Matryoshka (Hatsune Miku x GUMI) - hachi
- ↑25 Whoa.

22. Geometric (Kaai Yuki) - KagomeP
- As one of the few Kaai Yuki producers who can make her adorably amazing, KagomeP unleashes Yuki's gentle, whispery vocals coupled with a strong, pop melody.

23. Brown (remodel) (Hatsune Miku) - PowapowaP
- This is a remake, with Miku on gentle but smooth high vocals against a repetitive, bass-rich melody. As with most of Siinamota's works, this gives off an ethereal feel.

24. Jinsei Reset Button (GUMI) - kemu
- ↑26 Title means "Life's Reset Button".

25. Nico Nico Nukumority (Hatsune Miku) - LamazeP
- As usual with LamazeP, this is a catchy, bouncy pop song with Miku on high-pitched vocals.

26. Kagerou Days -cover- (GUMI x Len) - OrebananaP

- It's been a while since I saw a new KAITO in the rankings! I'm not familiar with the VocaloidP, but KAITO sounds a bit disjointed, but not in a bad way, since his voice mingled well with the metallic rhythm of the melody.
